The choice is between Naples style, round pizza with a puffy, charred edge, or focaccia-like Sicilian style bases.
Designed to feel like a little slice of Italy, the staff here will make you feel like a part of the family.
You can choose to enjoy your meal in their outdoor seating area to soak up some of the sun while you tuck into your authentic, wood-fired pizza.

Napoli Pizzeria

There’s probably a restaurant in every city in the world that has Napoli in its name. That’s because Napolitana pizza is widely regarded as the best in the world.

Madre

An evening spent at Madre is possibly one of the most decadent meals you could have at a pizza restaurant.
The low light evening ambience, combined with the customer facing kitchen and bar make this place seem like a classic pizzeria with a more grown up feel.
That grown up feeling is reinforced by the restaurant’s fantastic alcoholic drinks menu, which features a wide array of wines and Italian cocktails.
This might not be the most entertaining place to bring your kids but you’ll definitely receive an exquisite dining experience.
When we recently checked our listings, we noticed that Madre is currently closed. We hope the team fro this chic pizzeria surface somewhere else soon.

Marcellina

Also at 11 other locations across SA.
This spot represents a much more laid back approach to pizza service than the previous restaurant. Having been around since 1967, Marcellina has become a well known Adelaide eatery that the whole family can enjoy.
They have one of the largest menus on our list, with a fantastic range of pizzas, as well as pasta, seafood and risotto.

This restaurant even has a healthy range of lunch specials which makes it one of the most affordable places on the list too.

Blue Velvet

Taking a very different approach to a traditional pizzeria, Blue Velvet is actually more of a bakery. In fact, they describe themselves as an ‘Artisan Pizza and Pastry Lab’.

Not to mention, with their high tea set menus, you could easily treat this place like an afternoon tea spot and enjoy some pizza along with it.

Pizza Meccanica

This eatery might only have been around since 2016, but in that time it’s made quite a name for itself and won a few awards too.
It’s an old warehouse, converted into a high quality pizza restaurant where you can enjoy a sit down meal with friends and family.
In terms of the pizza, they keep things simple but classy. You’ll find all the classic choices on the menu so don’t expect any surprises. However, you might be surprised by just how good their food is.
Their 2018 South Australia Excellence award tells you all you need to know about the quality of Pizza Meccanica’s food. It’s undoubtedly one of the top pizza places in Adelaide.

La Trattoria Restaurant and Pizza Bar

La Trattoria is one of Adelaide’s most well known and beloved restaurants. If you’ve lived here long enough, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve already visited this pizzeria. Possibly on more and one occasion.

Don’t be fooled by this restaurant’s modest size, Amalfi’s will provide you with one of the most high quality pizza dining experiences available in the city.
The simple decor reflects an authentic Italian theme and the outdoor seating area allows you to feel like you’re enjoying a meal in continental Europe.
The menu isn’t as extensive as some other pizzerias we’ve looked at but this allows Amalfi’s to focus on perfecting the dishes they do make.
It may be one of the more expensive options on this list, but the premium prices are definitely reflected in the quality of their food.

The amusingly named pizza options make it difficult to decide on just one, so why not choose a few different options and share them amongst your group.
However, despite the funny names and the novelty of a banquet meal, the menu at Tony Tomatoes provides some very high quality options that you won’t see in many other restaurants on this list.

Sunny’s Pizza

Perhaps a slightly less traditional pizzeria, Sunny’s offers a more Australian take, while still providing some authentic pizza dishes.
Their menu is charmingly broken down into ‘pizza’ and ‘not pizza’ dishes and you won’t find a plethora of different options in either section.
However, you will find all of the classic dishes you already know and love, so there’s definitely something you’ll enjoy.
You should treat this place more like a comfort food eatery than an authentic pizzeria. This doesn’t mean that their pizza isn’t of a very high quality, which it is.
We just mean that it’s a more laid back, typically Australian restaurant.

EST Pizzeria
Location: 30 East Terrace, Adelaide, SA 5000 Ph: (08) 8359 2272
In a stark contrast to the previous pizza place, Est takes a more high class approach to food preparation and service.
They pride themselves on having some of the finest pizzas in the city and accompany them with an exquisite international wine and beer list.
This is probably one of the only pizza restaurants in Adelaide that will serve one with provolone, black truffle, prawn and rocket so it’s a high dining masterpiece in terms of pizza.
Surprisingly, the prices aren’t even considerably higher than most of the other restaurants on this list.
Est is definitely a place you should visit at least once for a special occasion while you’re in the city.
