Charles and Gamon (aka C&G to its many fans) is an excellent bar and restaurant in Seddon, in the inner west of Melbourne.
The establishment takes its name from its location – the corner of Charles St and Gamon St in the community of Seddon Village. If you’re not familiar with the area you should check it out. It’s a well kept secret, nestled between Footscray and Yarraville and is a wonderful place to shop, eat and drink.
We’ve frequented C&G many times and have never been disappointed. It is more of a bar than a restaurant, with the kitchen generally taking last orders around 8pm and the bar staying open reassuringly late on weekends.
We’ve heard rumours that Charles and Gamon is now operating under new management and so it’s probably time that we paid another visit. This writing gig can be tough work sometimes 😉

There is an extensive wine list, with a refreshing number of local, independent wine makers featured. The wines are reasonably priced, with no hefty mark ups. Best of all, there is good variety in both price point and grape variety.
In Melbourne’s warmer months be sure to take advantage of the excellent outdoor garden area. It is a justifiably popular place to hang out. What’s more, dogs and kiddies are very welcome.
It’s an unpretentious place in a box-shaped building with a warm, inviting vibe to it. The decor is modern and comfortable.
The food is simple, seasonal Italian. Tasty and filling; pizzas and share plates of unassuming, semi-rustic goodness. The pizzas are delightful and you should try at least one of the half-dozen or so varieties.
There are beers on tap, in addition to a wide variety of canned beers (from all over the world) in the well-stocked fridge.
Finally, the bar staff make excellent cocktails too, which can be consumed on the premises or taken away, if preferred.
