The Beach House BB
This beachfront icon (for many years named The Beach Restaurant) at 14 Ocean Esplanade, has long been a fixture of the Blackmans Bay community. And now it has had new life breathed into it by award-winning Hobart restaurateurs Ruben Koopman and Erin Webb.
This dining gem has long been known as, perhaps, the best beachfront restaurant in the whole of Tasmania. Situated only a short drive south of Hobart, with easy parking, level access and just a few steps to picturesque Blackmans Bay beach, it’s pretty ideal.
Whilst still retaining its gravitas as a venerable local institution, The Beach House, Blackmans Bay, has now been rebranded and updated under its new ownership. Fear not, the restaurant still keeps its much-loved community roots as a venue for special events and memorable occasions.
Whilst the flagship restaurant, now renamed The Beach House remains downstairs, the venue has grown to also include Pristine, a tapas bar upstairs.
They say we eat with our eyes. Make sure that everyone finds you’re tapas selection as visually appealing at possible with one of these practical and attractive Tapas Serving Boards.
Both spaces take advantage of an absolutely prime location with stunning beachfront views. Conveniently, the restaurant is open seven days for lunch and dinner (and for breakfast on weekends). Vegans are well catered for and there are plenty of gluten free options. The team really are hitting it out of the park in every way.
We particularly like the tapas and cocktail menu every day between 3pm-5pm. Take advantage of the ambiance and natural beauty of this stunning location and chill out in the afternoon sun.
The Beach House Blackmans Bay is well worth a visit.

Editor’s Note:
We have recently heard that Ruben has stepped down as co-owner and executive chef due to “some personal circumstances” and we wish him well in his new endeavours. Thankfully, Erin remains onboard and with the support of Brendan Hanson (the new head chef) and Dylan Geeves (GM) we are confident that the Beach House will continue to enhance its reputation as a destination restaurant.
