Ah Perth!
Sat resplendent in balmy Western Australia weather. Hemmed by stunning King’s Park and the might Swan River and with hip and laidback Fremantle where the ‘River hits the coast. As the sun dips on a mellow summer evening, the obvious thing to do is so find a cold drink in a spot with a vista, and chill.
Fortunately, there are plenty of excellent establishments in the WA capital to choose from, and we’re here to help you find them.
So read on for our roundup of the Best Rooftop Bars in Perth.
The Aviary Perth
Location: 140 William, Level 1/140 William St, Perth, WA 6000 Ph: (08) 9460 9959
We’re kicking off with a beauty which offers something for everyone.
Complete with palm trees, timber decking and plenty of outdoor seating, The Aviary is no shrinking violet. From after work drinks with friends, to events and parties and DJs spinning tracks, if you fancy quiet evening, maybe you should look somewhere else. But is you want a chilled vibe and superb service, grab a table and a menu.

The food options range from snacky favourites such as Fries ($13) and Popcorn Shrimp ($24) to Burgers and Pizzas. For us, it has to be the Roasted Pumpkin Pizza ($26) topped with Feta, Pesto, Rocket & Garlic Herb Oil. It’s especially tasty when washed down with The Safe Bet ($15) – Vodka, Passionfruit & Lime – or another Cocktail. Even better, many of the more popular tipples come by the jug.
On a hot afternoon, The Aviary has to be one of the finest places to relax with a cold drink whilst you admire the Perth skyline.
And did we mention that the team also do a great Bottomless Brunch for only $75pp?
It’s just another reason why The Aviary is heading our list of the best rooftop bars in Perth.
Sweetwater Rooftop Bar
Location: Richmond Quarter, Level 6/1 Silas St, East Fremantle, WA 6158 Ph: (08) 9460 9988
From the heart of Perth, we’re now heading over to the coast and the much-loved Sweetwater Rooftop Bar in East Fremantle.
It’s not easy to create a space that is both casual, yet refined, but the folks behind this slice of tropical heaven have managed to pull it off. The Sweetwater is a stress-free oasis, kissed by the breezes of the Fremantle Doctor, and serving food a bit above the average bar fare. In fact, delightful views and charming staff aside, the Asian Fusion-leaning menu is more than enough to get us up to the 6th floor.
As huge fans of any kind of spiced Cauliflower, we thoroughly recommend the version at Sweetwater Rooftop. Tossed in Fiery Gochujang & Sesame and paired with a umami-rich Miso Cashew Cream, you definitely don’t need to be vegan to appreciate it ($19). And why no-one else has put the Indonesian wonder – Gado Gado – into a Dumpling before is beyond us ($17). Meanwhile, amongst the Mains, both the Crispy Pork Belly ($38) and 48hr Braised Beef Short Rib ($42) live up to expectations.
With so many stellar dishes to choose from, deciding on what to eat could be a problem. Luckily, the kitchen have even solved that issue by putting together a Chef’s Feed Me selection.
And if you need more persuading that this is one of the top rooftop bars in Perth, the Sweetwater Rooftop Bar also runs Bottomless Brunch – their Bloomin’ Brunch. And if you really, really love a Dumpling or 3, book in for their Yum Cha on a Sunday.
The care shown to the food translates to the Drinks List as well, with Wines curated to match the Pan-Asian flavours. But you know us. We can never say no to a Cocktail. Happily, the mixologists at the Sweetwater do a fabulous Spicy Watermelon Margarita ($23.5).
18 Knots Rooftop Bar
Location: DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront, Level 18/1 Barrack Square, Perth, WA 6000 Ph: (08) 6372 1000
The heavy-hitters keep coming as we move on to the next of our finest rooftop bars in Perth.
Positioned majestically on the 18th Floor of the sophisticated DoubleTree by Hilton Perth, to describe the views from 18 Knots as panoramic is a massive understatement. With the ‘Hotel itself kissing the edge of the mighty Swan River, from this swanky rooftop hang-out, the only problem is what to look at first. The ferries and pleasure craft skimming the bay? The cityscape glittering behind you? Or the lush beauty of Kings Park to one side?
Whether you venture out onto the deck or decide to perch by a sun-drenched window, everything becomes more sparkly if you have a glass of Houghton Estate Brut ($13) Sparkling Wine in hand. But again, from there on in, the only danger is that you’ll be overwhelmed by choice. This is an establishment with a well-stocked bar and staff who know who know how to mix a drink. Try their Kingsley ($25), if you don’t believe. Never have Bundaberg Dark Rum, Mango Puree, Coconut Syrup & Lime Juice been happier together.
Whether you want to ultimate Home Bar Kit, or a Digital Thermometer to cook every piece of Steak perfectly, we can help. Click here for our full range of useful Kitchen Gadgets
The 18 Knots Bar Bites are very grazeable too. The Beef Sliders ($20) are yummy and the selection of Stone Baked Pizzas hit the spot. That said, our hearts belong to the Exmouth Prawn Rolls ($22). Trust us.
In addition, the kitchen runs a series of Lunchtime Specials. And then there’s the High Gin and Cheese, which has to be one of the most glam High Tea options in town.
Yes. There’s a lot to like about the 18 Knots Rooftop Bar. See you up there.
Stories
Location: Yagan Square, 376/420 Wellington St, Perth, WA 6000 Ph: (08) 6275 8888
The party vibe is pretty much guaranteed at Stories, sat on the border of buzzy Northbridge and encompassing a mind-boggling array of socialising options.
This is more of an entertainment complex that a simple drinking spot. The choices of where to hang-out range over 5 storeys and include 3 Restaurants, 9 Bars, a Speakeasy – and that Rooftop Bar – Stories Rooftop.
This is the place to hit if you want to catch up with mates and dance away the weekend. Stories Rooftop is a sky-high Nightclub complete with DJs, an open-air dancefloor over 2 levels and atmosphere to burn. Order a round of their Spicy Margs or a couple of tap Beers and the Stracciatella with Garlic Naan Bread and Chilli Oil to give you fuel and you’re set.
It’s no wonder that this flash new kid on the block took out a cupboard-load of Hospitality Awards in 2025. We reckon it’ll do the same in 2026!
The Standard
Location: 28 Roe St, Northbridge, WA 6003 Ph: (08) 9228 1331
The Parker Group are a busy bunch. From the sea-kissed charms of the Busselton Pavilion to locally made Gin and Vodka of the Dandelion Spirit Co., they are unlikely to die wondering. And now they have The Standard – a 3 storey bar slash kitchen with a magical garden and not 1, but 2 rooftop bars.
On a warm evening, those rooftops are the place to be. With their casual decor and vibe, and superb views out over the city, sitting inside would be a crime.
After a long spell of Asian fusion fare, the kitchen has now taken to a distinctly Mediterranean route. But still with an emphasis on Sharing.
At first glance, the menu might appear deceptively simple, but don’t be fooled. There is a genuine understanding of the balance between salty and sweet, smooth and crunchy at play in most dishes. For example, subtle, creamy Labneh is kicked to another level by a spiky Anchovy and Tomato XO ($10). Meanwhile, a BBQ Calamari Skewer ($19) has its smoky sweetness heightened by a lively Green Chilli Zhoug.
To Drink, the bar staff keep fun, but classy with some inspired Cocktail creations. A mix of Tequila, Chilli Tomato Shrub, Grapefruit Soda & Paprika Salt might sound a bit out there, but that’s the ingredients of the Roma Paloma ($20). And it goes down extremely easily!
Again, keep an eye on The Standard’s Social Pages as the crew run regular events such as Cocktail Classes and Bottomless Lunches.
Rooftop at QT/QT Perth
Location: QT Perth, Level 18/133 Murray St, Perth, WA 6000 Ph: (08) 925 8000
If you’re doing a rundown of the best rooftop bars in Perth, you really can’t miss the one which claims to be the highest, can you?
Atop the swanky QT Hotel on bustling Murray Street you’ll find the slick and stylish QT Rooftop Bar. And with the height comes very impressive views of the city’s skyline. What’s more, it’s vast. There’s a huge dining/chilling area positioned around a well-stocked central bar. In addition, there’s a sun-drenched outdoors deck with a retractable roof – making it ideal for nibbles and drinks whatever the weather.
Those ‘nibbles’ are rather excellent too. Think options from Fries with Aioli & Chicken Salt ($14) to Roasted Porchetta Sandos with Cabbage & Balsamic ($27). And as we said above, the bar has just about everything you can think of – and that includes a number of Rooftop Signature Cocktails. We are suckers for the Storm in the Orchid ($24) – a winning mix of Fior de Cana , Ginger, Italicus, Lime, Pear & Ginger Beer.
Like the Rooftop at QT in Melbourne and the QT Bar in the QT Hotel Newcastle, this is a great place to gather with a group of friends and share a night to remember.

Lil’s Rooftop Bar Perth
Location: 437 Murray St, Perth, WA 6000 Ph: (08) 6285 1115
Whilst sitting on a sleek, high-rise terrace, quaffing a glass of Pinot, is always nice, sometimes you want something a tad more chilled. Enter Lil’s Rooftop Bar – previously Tiger Lil’s. The views are great and the drinks are cold, but the vibe here is more welcoming local pub than posh cocktail bar.
Lil’s is hospitality on a large scale, with both indoor and outdoor seating. On a warm afternoon, the external deck is the place to be for a casual meal and catch up with friends. Come the evening, if a week at work has proved too much, flop into a couch at Lil’s Hideout. Wherever you decide to hang, you’ll find the service friendly and helpful.
Much of the menu is made for sharing. The salty, sweet Crispy Halloumi ($21) with Sweety Drop Peppers, Grapes, Honey & Citrus dressing is fab with a cold Beer. If you’re feeling hungrier, Lil’s Steak Sandwich ($31) featuring Rump Steak, Provolone Cheese, Caramelised Onions & Peppers, Pesto, Rocket & Fries is sure to satisfy. The chefs also knock out Pizzas, with the Gamberi ($27) – Marinated Prawns, Tomato, Capers, Mozzarella, Chilli, Herb & Garlic Oil & Basil – being a fabulous combo.
In addition to great food and drinks, there’s also Lil’s Late Night Disco. Every Saturday from 9pm the Lil’s Rooftop throbs with the sounds of a DJ and people partying. So reserve a table and grab a Cocktail.
The Beaufort
Location: 521-525 Beaufort St, Highgate, WA 6003 Ph: (08) 6186 6667
The Beaufort is doing its best to redefine the inner city pub for trendy Perth social butterflies. Set over an expansive 3 levels, the venue holds a number of different drinking and dining areas, offering something for everyone.
Whilst the Beer Garden is lush and inviting, its the rooftop terrance – the Candy Bar – that we really want to rave about. This is a fabulous urban oasis – all verdant foliage and chilled corners to relax and chat up with friends.
The Signature Cocktail List boasts all the usual sun and good-times mixes – Aperol Spritz ($19), Strawberry Mojito ($21) and the like. Although we always have a thirst for a Margarita, it’s a surprise that The Beaufort doesn’t offer some original concoctions of it’s own creation. That said, the bar has a good selection of Wines and Beers for those how wish to partake.
If you come with a hunger, then you’ll have plenty to choose from. The Katsu Chicken Burger ($26) is guaranteed to hit the spot. Similarly, the ideas of putting Beef Rendang into Shepherd’s Pie ($34) form is pure inspiration.
Lastly, the kitchen run a great Bottomless Sesh on Saturday afternoons. We predict that this could be the must-try event of the summer.
